New Regional EU Competency Center for Biomedical Engineering, Fotona has recently joined forces with R&D partners from industry, academia and medicine to form an EU regional competency center Biomedical Engineering (BME) as an integral part of the Laser and Health Academy. The BME’s ambition is to become the central knowledge institution for applied research in the field of biomedical engineering in this part of the EU.

New Minimally Invasive Periodontal Disease Treatment Optimizing Dentistry’s Two Best Laser Wavelengths, Fotona has co-developed Wavelength-optimized Periodontal Therapy (TM) (WPT (TM)) with US partner Lares Research. WPT (TM) is a minimally invasive method for treating periodontal disease using fully optimized Nd:YAG and Er:YAG laser with the AT Fidelis.

Another Study Confirms Er:YAG Laser’s Hard Tissue Ablation Superiority, In a comparative study between Er:YAG and Er,Cr:YSGG lasers it was found that less total absorbed laser energy remained in the tooth in the form of heat in teeth treated with the AT Fidelis’ Er:YAG laser.
