Treating Pigmented Lesions -- a Chinese Success Story

9 March 2006

Unsightly pigmented lesions can have a major negative impact on people's lives affecting their self-confidence and quality of life adversely. While pigmented lesions occur on all skin types, they are particularly prevalent among East Asians, who are turning to laser treatment in increasing numbers.

Dr Wan Yuyan, the Director of the Laser Centre at Shenzen's Sunshine Hospital (China), has treated many such patients and for her there is no doubt which laser system to use. "I have treated a lot of patients with pigmented lesions", she says, "and the Fotona QX is the best choice for them. Like other Fotona QX users, I am impressed by its safety, power and efficacy".

The Fotona QX utilizes an advanced, high-powered Q-switched Nd:YAG and frequency-doubled KTP Nd:YAG dual laser system specifically designed for tattoo and pigmented lesion removal. The Fotona QX delivers fast, gentle treatments that produce superior clinical results that transform patients' lives.

From Tattoos to Pigmented Lesions
Based on the same principles as tattoo removal, the Fotona QX can also effectively treat a wide array of pigmented lesions including among others: common nevi, solar and senile lentigines, café-au-lait birthmarks, seborrheic keratosis and post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.

As Dr. Wan Yuyan says, "I use the Fotona QX to remove many kinds of pigments, such as age spots, freckles, and café-au-lait spots... I usually use the KTP Nd:YAG laser for the removal of epidermal pigmented lesions and the Nd:YAG laser for deep pigmented lesions."

User-Friendly Technology Provides Superior Ease-of-Use
The system's easy-to-use interface makes it possible to switch quickly between laser sources and adapt laser parameters to suit the needs of the treatment at the touch of a button. In addition, Fotona's Electronic Feedback Control platform automatically calibrates the laser output and checks each laser pulse providing unmatched safety and ease-of-mind. Furthermore, since both laser sources can be used with just one handpiece (with variable spotsize selection), treatments are more efficient and less time-consuming. "With the Fotona QX," Wan Yuyan continues, "I don't have to change handpieces since the easy-to-use interface allows me to switch between them quickly and easily."
