Fotona Sponsors First Congress of the Polish Society of Laser Dentistry

The congress brought together international experts in laser dentistry to provide a comprehensive overview of current research in all major areas of dentistry, including surgery, implantology, periodontology, endodontics, restorative and pediatric dentistry.

The event was organized under the patronage of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry (WFLD) and included a number of prominent WFLD lecturers (Prof. Umberto Romeo, DMD, DDS; Prof. Roly Kornblit, DMD, DDS; Prof. Adam Stabholz, DMD) as well as LA&HA clinical lecturers (Prof. Giovanni Olivi, MD, DDS; Ilay Maden, DMD, PhD; Jugoslav Jovanovic, DDS; Prof. Boris Gaspirc, DDS, PhD) and various local speakers.

Participants at the congress were very attentive during the lectures and enthusiastic about the wide range of applications for Fotona’s LightWalker, with particularly strong interest in endodontic treatments, implantology and periodontology.

There were also a number of poster presentations, among which the winning contribution (submitted by Dr. n med. Kinga Grzech-Lesniak) was titled “SEM analysis of the results following subgingival calculus removal with ultrasound, hand curette and Er:YAG laser", with the finding that only Er:YAG laser selectively removes calculus and does not cause damage to the root surface.

Next year’s PTSL congress will be a part of FDI in September in Poznan, with 19,000 expected visitors.
