Er:YAG/Nd:YAG Combination Reported to Provide Superior Results in Complicated Periodontic Cases
18 June 2008
After extraction, and to avoid the residual bone bridge between teeth fracturing, they used Er:YAG laser to debride the granulation tissue. After the removal of the granulation tissue, the Nd:YAG laser was used to disinfect the sockets and surgical site. Following the socket preparation, implants are placed and a guided bone regeneration procedure is peformed. Dr. Gokbuget et al. reported that they preferred using the Er:YAG/Nd:YAG combination method in order to achieve superior results in such complicated cases. Using the Er:YAG laser allowed them to preserve the bone in order to obtain a reliable augmentation to place the implants, the Nd:YAG eliminated the probability of periimplantitis by disinfecting the surgical area.
Dr. Gokbuget and his team; Dr. Pamuk, Dr. Erbil, Dr. Yazar and Dr. Al Titi, also visited Fotona's headquarters and manufacturing facilities during their stay in Ljubljana were the 13th ICPR was held.
