Laser vs. corticosteroid therapy
Clinical studies have confirmed that laser therapy matches or exceeds the effectiveness of standard topical corticosteroids. That’s why LichenLase™ is emerging as a trusted alternative or adjunct therapy for LS management. It is especially recommended for patients who do not respond to corticosteroids or who wish to reduce long-term steroid use.
| Aspect | LichenLase™ Therapy | Corticosteroid Therapy |
|---|---|---|
| Treatment frequency | 3 sessions over 2-4 weeks + maintenance every 6 months | Daily or twice-weekly topical application + maintenance sessions |
| Effectiveness | Comparable or superior in reducing LS symptoms | Standard first-line treatment |
| Patient compliance | Less frequent visits may improve adherence | Requires regular, frequent & precise application |
Can laser therapy be combined with corticosteroids?
Yes. Laser treatment can be safely and effectively combined with corticosteroid therapy to further enhance effectiveness.
Important: Regardless of the type of treatment, whether with laser, corticosteroids or a combination of both, regular check-ups and maintenance therapies are vital to help monitor your patient’s condition and prevent potential complications.
